Step back into the ’50s, Brisbane, because Grease the Musical has roared into QPAC’s Lyric Theatre, radiating nostalgia and vibrant musical theatre energy. Running until February 1, this beloved classic has been reimagined with a stellar cast and irresistible charm, culminating in a thrilling mega-mix that had the audience on their feet in a jubilant standing ovation.

This production blends the heart of the original with fresh updates, creating a joyous celebration of love, friendship, and all things rock ’n’ roll. With standout performances from a dynamic ensemble, Grease reminds us why it remains an enduring favorite.


Annelise Hall shines as Sandy, capturing the innocence and evolution of her character with heartfelt vocals and radiant stage presence. Her transformation into the confident, leather-clad “new” Sandy is both empowering and electrifying. Opposite her, Fabian Andres brings charisma and vulnerability to the role of Danny, delivering a swoon-worthy rendition of “Sandy” that tugged at heartstrings.

Mackenzie Dunn steals the spotlight as Rizzo, the Pink Ladies’ tough-as-nails leader. Her emotionally charged performance of “There Are Worse Things I Could Do” is a show highlight, blending raw honesty with vocal finesse. Rose Shannon-Duhigg as Marty and Katelin Koprivec as Jan round out the Pink Ladies with charisma and humor, adding depth and sparkle to their iconic roles. Catty Hamilton’s portrayal of Frenchy is heartfelt and endearing, bringing charm and warmth to the group’s chemistry.


Among the T-Birds, Keanu Gonzalez commands attention as the swaggering Kenickie, particularly in his raucous rendition of “Greased Lightnin’,” which had the crowd cheering. Oliver Lacey shines as Roger, bringing charm and comedic timing to his role. Regan Walker as Sonny and Jordan Koulos as Doody infuse the group with energy and humor, with Koulos’s playful “Those Magic Changes” proving especially memorable.

Lucy Fraser delivers a delightful turn as the peppy Patty Simcox, while Gareth Isaac is hilariously endearing as Eugene.
